Volunteer Opportunities
4 F’s Community Uplift
Looking to put faith to real work? This small group meets during the day once a month to do needed repairs on community members’ homes and on the Family Promise building that is home to Wyoming Park.
4Fs meet the third Tuesday of the month at 9am at for breakfast. If there is a need in the community for repairs and assistance they will help after eating. To learn more, please see Ron VerHage.
Kids Hope School Mentoring
In partnership with Wyoming Parkview Elementary School, members of Wyoming Park mentor one-on-one with a young person. Kids Hope provides loving adults who commit to a year of one hour mentoring each week. Teachers provide particular skills for mentors to work on with their mentees, but the critical thing is that kids know there are adults they can depend on to be there.
We partner with Parkview Elementary School to provide this mentorship program to students. Kids Hope will continue in the fall. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact Dave Borda at thebordas@aol.com.
Simple Blessings Meal
One Wednesday each month Wyoming Park provides dinner for Family Promise folks at 5:30pm, then gather upstairs for food, stories, and songs. Family Promise residents are invited to join in the meal and the program. An offering is taken that is used for emergency needs of church and community persons. Additional Opportunities
Quilter’s Group: meets twice a month directly after church. We currently focus on making prayer shawls for those in need to be ‘wrapped in love’ .
Food Truck: We volunteer monthly with the local food truck helping to organize items and distribute to the community members present. If you would like to help, or get more information, please contact Don Williams at wms.don@gmail.com.
